WebJan 11, 2024 · Jan 4, 2024. #13. Well, I have looked very very closely at CS strats that have darker dots and it's definitely a dye that has been applied to the micarta you can see it. Someone must know what they use. On some knife forums they mention leather dye works and doesn't rub off. Might investigate that. WebOct 11, 2008 · My experience with "Micarta" comes from the aircraft industry and at that time "Micarta" was a trade name for a linen laminate using a thermo-set plastic as a binder. It was cut with wood working tools but could be polished like plastic. The micarta materials I have seen are noticeably softer than the poly-Ivory which I prefer.
